One of the most important needs of survival aside from shelter food and water is.... a fire. To keep warm in cold weather, to cook food and to potentially purify your water. If you are lost and trying to be rescued then the fire can act as a signal to assist rescue workers in finding you. (if you are trying not to be found look up how to make underground dakota fire holes to reduce light and smoke) There are countless ways to create a fire. If you are out in the wilderness you should have some type of fire starter (or two, or three) with you in a mini hiking survival if shit hits the fan type of back pack. You just never know people! You just don't. This is a new thing that I thought was pretty cool. I wouldn't really suggest this for a kit but if you are in an urban area and these supplies are readily available or if you just want to impress your buddies when you are drunk in your backyard at least 10 feet from any building in a cleared area free of flammables with an extinguisher of some sort on hand ( hahaha... if you can remember that) I say go for it.
